Are RCM principles complex?

Absolutely not!  For several years, I collaborated with members of the Royal Navy’s RCM program.  At one of our team dinners, Commander Andrew Matters, former head of the Royal Navy’s RCM program said to me:  “You know Nancy, RCM is nothing more than common sense applied to physical assets.”  He told me that about 18 years ago at a small restaurant in Bath, England.  It’s a simple, yet poignant statement and it has never left me.  A lot of the assets we apply RCM principles to may be very complex.  And in the last twenty years, I’ve facilitated my share of complex analyses.  But the basic principles of RCM aren’t.

I started RCMTrainingOnline.com to help organizations gain an understanding of maintenance and reliability basics. After all, the basics pervade just about every asset management solution out there ~ and they’re embedded in Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM).
